Who is Sonat Sözer?

Sonat Sözer, was admitted to the Flute Department of Izmir Dokuz Eylül University State Conservatory in 1994 and started to study with Professor Cahit Koparal and AssociateProfessor Çiler Akıncı. After graduation from the high school section of the Conservatory, he was admitted to Ecole Nationale de Musique Conservatoire Marcel Dupré in Paris and had the opportunity to be a student of Professor François Veilhan. He completed the Flute Department “Supérior” class with the highest degree (medailled’or) in 1999 and continued his education with Professor Veilhan in “Perfectionnement” class.

After graduation from the “Perfectionnement” class of the Flute Department with a top degree (mentiontresbien) in 2001 he began to study with Professor Philippe Lesgourges at Conservatoire Nationale Regional de Saint Maur in Paris. The artist participated at masterclass of world famous soloist James Galway in 2008. He alsoparticipated at workshops of Bülent Evcil and Rafaele Trevisani.

The artist has played at CRR Symphony Orchestra and Borusan İstanbul Philarmonic Orchestra between 2005 to 2008. He gave many chamber music and solo concerts. In addition to his recitals and chamber music performances, Sonat Sozer’s solo career covers concerts that he took place as the soloist with the premier symphonic orchestras in Turkey.

For the time being he plays at İzmir State Symphony Orchestra as co-principal flute and he teachs at İzmir State Conservatory. .
